Due to the forecasted rain and wind, in coordination with the Sacramento County Department of Homeless Services and Housing (DHSH), First Step Communities (FSC) will be activating a weather respite center at the Warren E Thornton Youth Center Gym located at: 4000 Branch Center Road, Sacramento, CA 95827, to help unhoused persons get respite from the rain beginning on January 30 at 5 pm until Monday, February 5, at 8 am.
This location can support up to 50 adults (18+). Pets are welcome, however, will need to be crated at all times in the center and leashed when taking relief outside. There will be crates provided on location for pet owners that do not have them. Guests will receive blankets and cots to sleep on, have access to showers, and three meals a day at the respite center.
The City of Sacramento will also have the Auburn Outreach and Engagement Center (3615 Auburn Boulevard) open for an additional 50 people Wednesday, January 30 through Sunday, morning February 4.
Regional Transit is providing free rides to weather respite centers. The flyer is attached – riders can either show a printed copy or a digital copy of this SacRT Weather Respite Centers Flyer on a device.
Please refer inquiries to 2-1-1 or 211sacramento.org for all the information on dates, times and locations of respite centers. The County will continue to monitor the forecasted weather to determine the need for extensions of this activation.
