North Highlands Man Crashes Into House, Injures Boy Inside

Lerin Maldonado Lopez of North Highlands was arrested in Ceres for DUI after he lost control of his Toyota Tundra pickup and crashed into a house in the 3400 block of Central Avenue.

On the morning of Wednesday, March 6, an incident unfolded on the 3400 block of Central Avenue when a pickup truck, reportedly driven by an intoxicated individual, crashed into a residence, resulting in injuries to a young boy. The minor was promptly transported to a medical facility to receive care for his injuries.

The incident occurred shortly after a 911 call was made at 12:29 a.m., alerting authorities to a man driving a red pickup dangerously in the vicinity of Service Road and Central Avenue. While law enforcement was mobilizing to locate the erratic driver, they were informed of a red Toyota Tundra that had overturned into a home at the intersection of Central Avenue and Pine Street. Officer Charles Lord-Huff was quick on the scene, where he engaged with the driver, identified as 21-year-old Lerin Maldonado Lopez from North Highlands. Signs of intoxication were evident, including a pronounced smell of alcohol emanating from Lopez.

Subsequently, Lopez was taken into custody and detained at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, facing charges related to driving under the influence and causing bodily harm.
